Lifestyle || 2015 Goals || Mid Year Review
So in January I posted a list of my goals for the year and thought it would be fun to take a look back
at those now I'm halfway through the year, seeing what I've actually done and what I still need/want
to achieve in the next six months.
1) Get a Job Check (and it's in the industry I want HOORAY) and I start very soon. I'm excited to get into the full time working world
2) Explore London more. This is definitely something I've done, I'm noticing my London
geography improving more and more (which is some kind of miracle as my sense of
direction is appalling). I've even posted some of my travels around the city on here and will probably continue to do so when I do especially fun or different things (more museum visits may be on the cards). Whilst I still have my favourite spots it's been really fun to do new things in the city and find more to do outside the norm and my comfort zone.
3) More Craft Projects Yep. Not as much as I'd like to but there's still 6 months in the year and I'm sure around Christmas will be a very crafty time for me and I'll definitely have more opportunities from now on.
4) Experiment with my baking Not as much as I'd have liked to, as I do like to stick to things I know everyone loves, but there's still plenty of time left in 2015 to try new things.
5) Write more often. A definite yes! In January I couldn't have seen myself writing this blog
still by June and now I really enjoy it. Yes I set myself a goal to have at least one blog post
up a week but I love trying to push myself to get more up, it's nice to have a space to talk
about books I love and things I've done. Writing mainly used to mean essays or formal work
but having a space where I can express myself however I like and put my personality into is
really fun, if you're thinking of taking up blogging I'd recommend it.
My journal as well is another thing I've surprised myself by keeping up for this long. I'm not
usually one to express my feelings and pour everything out but having a space to do this is
such a relief and I don't know why I didn't do it sooner. I don't write that regularly only a
few times a month but it's nice to keep track of what's going on and important in my life.
6) Take a proper holiday
7) Travel somewhere new I'm writing about 6 and 7 in one go as they are connected. As of yet, I haven't done these things (at least not travelling out of the UK) but a holiday is being planned and possibly even a weekend away too! Both of which will probably be to new places, watch out on here for pictures.
8) Learn a new skill. So I started learning french again, not a new skill exactly but its been 9
years since I was last properly studying french (goodness that makes me feel old!) and
having not used it since it was extremely rusty! I've been using Duolingo to do this and I
have to say I really enjoy it. I spend 10 minutes a day working on it, meaning even on days
where I'm really busy I can fit it in and it tells me my weak areas and I can do extra practice
on these.
I'm still considering the Ukelele and maybe at the end of July I'll cave and get one.
9) Take at least one driving lesson Not yet disappointingly but now I've got a job I should be able to start soon. Watch out road users.
10) 50 Book Challenge. I'm well on my way to completing this so far I've read 37 books and we
are 26 weeks into the year so I'm pretty confident I can complete it. A full list of the 50 books will be up once I complete it and a separate list of any subsequent reads will be posted at the end of the year
Minor goals:
Stay off my phone when with friends. Yes! The only time I reach for my phone is when I receive a
new message but even then there's no rush. I don't find myself with the need to check my social
media feeds when I'm out with other people anymore because I know I can check them when I get
home, the people I'm with are more important and deserve my attention when they're willing to
spend time with me.
Drink more water. Yep I hate travelling anywhere without my trusty water bottle. If I don't have
mine with me I annoyingly end up buying another
Re-read the Harry Potter series. If you regularly read my blog you will have seen my posts about
my re-read and the fact that for my birthday my boyfriend treated me with a trip to the studios. I
knew I wanted to read the books again this year but having a trip to the studios planned sped this up
as I wanted to read them before I went.
Don't let fear and negativity rule
Do more giving There's always more I could do, but I have kept pretty consistent in comparison to last year.
Are you still keeping up with any of the goals you set in January? Let me know in the
comments!
Cloee xoxo
