Last weekend we went on a family outing to Hall Place and Gardens in Bexley to visit the Butterfly Jungle. As a butterfly lover I went somewhat snap happy as I wandered around admiring the various different kinds as they flew around the room. The 'jungle' contains free flying butterflies from around the world in a rainforest environment full of exotic plants. If like my sister you fear things flying around your head then this isn't for you, although it did give us a little enjoyment to watch her duck or flinch every time one moved (yes we're a cruel family).
After a swift exit (to end my sisters fear after a butterfly landed on her arm) we headed down to the cafe for a spot of tea and cake. The cafe is in a beautiful spot with outside seating overlooking the river and gardens, perfect for a sunny day like we've been having recently. I myself opted for cream tea, because if your going to do tea you may as well do it properly. There was a great selection of cake to choose from (including gluten free options) as well as rolls and sandwiches.
Over all it was a great day and there's plenty more to do if you want to make a day of it, if the sun is shining I'd definitely recommend taking a picnic and enjoying the beautiful outdoor space.
