I'm no beauty expert, but in the past few years as I've started watching more Youtube and reading more blogs I have become a beauty lover. Before my second year of uni when I discovered make-up tutorials on Youtube and started to take more time and care about what products I was buying and more importantly how I was applying them I was pretty clueless.
I used to just wear make-up because everyone else did and wore too much too often. Now I'm older (and definitely wiser) I steer clear from the bright colours and the eyeliner for day to day and try to keep things simple. For an everyday look I try to keep things, simple light and go for a 'no make-up make-up look' so when I have a more formal occasion and put that little extra effort into the way I look its noticeable. So here's my recent beauty purchases, which consists of almost everything I wear on a daily basis.
Rimmel BB Cream (Light) – For everyday wear I hate having something too heavy on my skin. Unless I'm going out somewhere special or need that extra bit of coverage I don't really like wearing regular foundation on a daily basis, there's just no need. This BB Cream gives me enough coverage for day to day and evens out my skin tone without that heavy feeling on my skin, and as a bonus I find it often lasts me the whole day anyway. I find the key (as with most skin products) is that a little goes a long way, this comes in fewer shades than regular foundation it took some getting used to at first but this is now my second tube and I love it.
Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara – I haven't purchased a Maybelline mascara for quite a few years, so I was taking quite a chance on this one. Luckily I wasn't disappointed, this is great for a full lash look and you honestly don't need to use much.
Maxfactor Wild Shadow Pots: 101 Pale Pebble – I got a shade pretty similar to this around a year and a half ago in one of the Maxfactor gift boxes that you get if you spend over a certain amount and I loved it. It was my go to everyday eyeshadow for everyday wear and I depended on it until I hit the pan and was desperately getting the last bits out knowing I couldn't get another. So of course instead of searching for another brand and shade I opted for the closest I could get on the Maxfactor stand at Boots and was not disappointed. I just find this shade is really great for a simple everyday look and brightens up my eyes.
Collection Eyes Uncovered: Nude Palette – I've seen this palette popping up over the internet and decided to take a chance and cash in some of my points on my Boots card and I can honestly say I'm not disappointed. For £3.99 I obviously wasn't expecting too much, but this palette offers 6 great shades for everyday wear, and is compact enough to throw in your bag to take you from a day to night look and create a subtle smoky eye. The palette has a metal close, so won't be flying open if you quickly throw it in your bag after a touch up (like I often carelessly do) and contains a double ended foam applicator, which is always a great bonus in a budget product like this. If your looking for a simple and affordable 'do-it-all' palette I'd definitely recommend giving this a try.
Models Own Eyelash Curlers – There's not much to say here other than they definitely do the job and they do it well. As someone who at some point in the day when I'm tired or have inevitably been sitting staring at a computer screen for far too long and has to grab for my glasses, eye lash curlers are a must for me to avoid my lashes batting against my glasses. As a cheap and cheerful option these definitely keep my lashes out of the way should this time of day come before I take my make-up off.
Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick: 101 – Another repurchase as I unfortunately lost mine a few months ago, I just love this subtle shade that gives your lips that little extra colour po without being too over the top and the staying power of these lipsticks is a definite bonus for everyday wear as you don't have keep reapplying.
